Mobberley Brewhouse properly fired into life in 2012 on the site where our shop is now located - a mile or so down the winding country lanes from our current brewing premises.
We were starting from scratch - with a small, knocked together brew kit made up of various second hand tanks and equipment.
From 2012 - 2015 we continued to prioritise beer quality & experimentation, attempting to push our own boundaries - focusing on creating more progressive cask beers and planning a future that involved fulfilling our hopes of installing a larger brew kit and producing much more contemporary beer styles in can and keg.
In January 2016 we moved to our new site down the road. Demand was still increasing so we instigated the build of a custom 20BBl (just over 3000L) capacity brew kit.
Fully built and installed, we fired up the burners for the first time in February 2017. Nothing was ever the same again.
We began producing can & keg beers in February 2018, going on to make more than 20 different beers during the year. Releasing so many popular beers throughout 2018 saw us listed as one of the top 100 rated breweries on Untappd in the UK and an overall increase in demand for our beers. Something we are immeasurably proud of.
In 2018 we opened two bars under the name of Project 53 (53 being the latitude of our brewery), allowing us to deal directly with our end consumers and for the bars to be the showcase for our high quality products. Both bars were refurbished to a rustic finish featuring wood and brickwork, with the emphasis on locally produced, artisan products.
Each bar stocks over 30 gins, from small batch artisan distillers in the UK, a large range of wines and spirits too.
You'll also find our open pizza kitchen where our chefs hand stretch the most fabulous pizzas, creating an offering of standard favourites and fortnightly specials.
